New York Times best-selling author and Plain Dealer columnist Regina Brett will be guest speaker at a spring fundraiser for the Help A Teacher Teach organization in Youngstown. The event occurs at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 4 at the Davis Center at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek MetroParks.
Proceeds from the event will provide funding for supplies and materials for needy K-12 classrooms in Mahoning County.
The fundraiser includes Brett’s speech, a luncheon, and a raffle. Attendees will receive an autographed copy of Brett’s new book, “Be the Miracle” and have the opportunity to meet her. Additional copies of her books, “Be the Miracle” and “God Never Blinks,” will be available for purchase and signing.
Brett was named a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2008 and 2009 for columns she wrote for The Plain Dealer. Her column focuses on the issues of everyday life. Her books reflect the lessons she’s learned about herself and others over the years. “Be the Miracle” is a followup to her previous bestseller, “God Never Blinks,” a collection of life lessons she accumulated after learning she had cancer.
Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door and may be purchased with a major credit card by calling 330-507-0611. To purchase tickets by check, mail payment to Help A Teacher Teach, P.O. Box 2906, Youngstown, Ohio 44511. The deadline for advance ticket purchase is Feb. 22.
