Llucky Llama Club to collect for Food Bank on March 31

The Llucky Llama 4-H Club will collect monetary and non-perishable food donations for Second Harvest Food Bank’s “Harvest for Hunger” campaign from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, March 31. The collection will occur outside of Quality Petmart, located at 5543 Mahoning Ave. in Austintown.

Since 2003, the Llucky Llama 4-H Club has raised more than $4,000 for the “Harvest for Hunger” campaign, which has enabled the Food Bank to provide more than $60,000 worth of food to hungry people in the community.

The 12-year-old organization averages 15-20 members per year, ranging in age from 8- to 18-years old.  In addition to working with animals, youth are given the opportunity to explore other interests including cooking, wood working, model rocketry and computers.

“Harvest for Hunger”  is a month-long food and fund drive that takes place each March to help replenish Food Bank shelves during the spring and summer months when donations taper off. All food collected and funds raised help feed hungry families in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties. Visit www.mahoningvalleysecondharvest.org for more information.
