Niles Area Business Council gives $25,000 to McKinley stadium fund

The Niles Area Business Council of the Regional Chamber presented a $25,000 check today to the REIN (Renovating Excellence in Niles) Committee for renovations to Niles McKinley High School’s Bo Rein Stadium.

The check was presented this morning at Bo Rein Stadium by Jeff Crowley on behalf of the Niles Area Business Council to Tim Parry, representing the REIN Committee.

In appreciation for the donation, the stadium band shell will be named for the Regional Chamber/Niles Area Business Council.

“We are all very excited to be a part of the REIN Project. Currently Niles is building three new schools and along with the recent opening of the Ralph A. Infante Wellness Center, Niles is proving again to be a great place to live and work,” Crowley said.

“The stadium renovation project was the missing piece, and now we are well on our way to turning this into a reality. Niles pride is alive and well, and we are glad to be a part of the excitement,” he added.

The first phase of the stadium renovations will focus on installing new turf and paving parts of the stadium at a cost of about $800,000. Phase 2 will include new locker rooms and restrooms, a new entrance and fencing, new scoreboard, press box and seating, including chair backs on the home side. In all, the project will cost about $2.5 million.

A kick-off to the fund-raising campaign took place in March. Contributions are tax-deductible.
