March 1-3: Flaming Ice Cube to host knitting retreat

The Flaming Ice Cube, located at 1449 Boardman-Canfield Road in Canfield, is announcing its 2013 Knitting Retreat, featuring Michelle Hunter, a nationally recognized knitting teacher, author, designer, web blogger, and video instructor. The three-day event will be held at the Comfort Inn in Austintown.

Hunter will be teaching knitting colorwork techniques, which include intarsia, slipped stitches and mosaic knitting. Local knitters will have an opportunity to work with Hunter, who is also known as the Knit Purl Hunter. Attendees should know the basic knitting skills of casting on, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, and binding off.

The cost is $415 for double occupancy and $465 for single occupancy and includes overnight accommodations on Friday, March 1, and Saturday, March 2, dinners on both Friday and Saturday nights, and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. (Handicapped accessible rooms are available upon request.) In addition, the fee includes a swag bag worth more than $150 and chances to win door prizes from sponsors Skacel and Mountain Colors.
