Family history workshops set for March 16 at Center of Industry and Labor

Do you want to know more about your family history? Where they came from? How they got here? What they did once they arrived?

If these and other such questions intrigue you, the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor is sponsoring two workshops on Saturday, March 16, that may help provide the answers. The program includes the following:

10 a.m. “Capturing Your Family’s Oral History,” presented by Donna DeBlasio, YSU professor of History, will help participants plan and record oral history stories of family members and friends. Learn how to identify individuals with stories to share, frame questions, guide the conversation, and document work.

1 p.m. “Your Immigrant Ancestors,” presented by Donna DeBlasio and Martha Pallante, YSU professors of History, will look at the ethnic neighborhoods that shaped the community and continue to do so decades later.

The cost is $10 per person per workshop. For more information or to make reservations, call 330-941-1314 or 330-941-1433. The Youngstown Historical Center, known as the Steel Museum, is located at 151 W. Wood Street in downtown Youngstown.
