Youngstown St. Patrick Church will resume its Sauce and Songs program for the 2012-13 season on Sunday, Oct. 6. Spaghetti dinners will be served in the church social hall from 11:30 a.m to 4 p.m. A concert occurs at 2 p.m. in the church and features a performance by Nanette Kaplan Solomon, pianist and professor of music at Slippery Rock University.
Cost of the dinners is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children age eight and under. The menu includes the main entrée, salad, bread, beverage and dessert. Carryouts are available and containers will be provided.
Solomon received her early training as a scholarship student at the Juilliard School and received a bachelor of arts degree magna cum laude from Yale College. She went on to earn a master’s from the Yale School of Music, and her PhD from Boston University School.
She has presented lecture-recitals at the College Music Society national meetings throughout the United States and has performed at the international conferences in Berlin, Vienna, Kyoto, Limerick, Costa Rica, Madrid, Bangkok, Zagreb, Croatia, and Seoul.
The concert is free and open to the public, although free-will offerings will be welcomed. For more information, contact the church office, 330-743-1109.
