Volunteers sought for Glenwood Avenue park workday on Sept. 28

A major community workday is planned for 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the future site of Glenwood Community Park on Youngstown’s South SIde. The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. will be assisting the Idora Neighborhood Association and Youngstown’s Department of Parks and Recreation to build a playground at the park using community volunteers.

All volunteers will meet at the future park  site, located on Glenwood Avenue between Sherwood and West LaClede avenues. (The approximate address is 2534 Glenwood Ave.) The YNDC will provide volunteers with detailed instructions on activities for the day. On-street parking is available on Sherwood and West LaClede avenues, immediately adjacent to the park, and on Parkview Avenue, one block south. Lunch will be provided.

The event is being sponsored by the Idora Neighborhood Association, the city of Youngstown Department of Parks and Recreation, Team Depot, KaBOOM!, Fifth Ward Councilman Paul Drennen, Bottom Dollar Food, Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation, Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, the Walter E. Watson Charitable Trust, and The J. Ford Crandall Memorial Foundation.
