‘Tapestries of Ohio’: Dec. 6-7, 13-14 at Christ Episcopal Church in Warren

Taking place in 1969, the production introduces the audience to residents of an apartment building and surrounding neighborhood, most of whom are trying to work their way from the streets of Detroit to stardom as recording artists. Holiday Cabaret. Spotlight Theater, Bliss Hall, YSU, Wick Avenue at Spring Street, Youngstown; 330-941-3105. YSU’s Department of Theater and Dance will perform a Holiday Cabaret, directed by Nancy Andersen Wolfgang with accompaniment by Jack Ciarnello.  The family-centered show will feature seasonal favorites. Seating is limited. 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. $8 for adults, and $5 for senior citizens, students and children. Dec. 6.

Tapestries of Ohio. Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic St. NE, Warren. Medieval celebration and dinner sponsored by Tapestries of Ohio. Doors open 6:30 p.m. Reservations required; call 330-726-5576. 7 p.m., Dec. 6-7, 13-14. $30.

It’s a Wonderful Life. Main Street Theater, 5 N. Main St., Columbiana. 330-482-9915. 8 p.m. Dec. 6-7, 13-14; 2 p.m., Dec  8, 15.

The Nutcracker. Powers Auditorium, 260 W. Federal St., Youngstown. 330-744-1934. Presented by Ballet Western Reserve. 7:30 p.m., Dec. 6 and 2 p.m., Dec. 7. 7:30 p.m.

Kenny Rogers in Concert. W.D. Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning, NW, Warren; 330-841-2931. Kenny Rogers will perform his hits during a special local appearance. Most recently, Rogers have been delving into country rock stylings.  This “Back at the Pack” event is one of six to nine concerts and shows that will be presented by Sunrise Entertainment and Rockin’ on the River at Packard Music Hall during the upcoming fall, winter and spring months. All tickets are reserve seating and can be purchased either online, by phone or in person from the Packard box office. 8 p.m. , Dec. 10

African Children’s Choir. St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman; 330-743-1109 and 330-758-2325 and The African Children’s Choir will perform African songs and dances. The program features well-loved children’s songs, traditional spirituals and gospel favorites. A free-will offering is taken at the performance to support African Children’s Choir programs, such as education, care and relief and development programs. 7:30 p.m. Adults: $15; Children 12 and under: $5. (No ticket sales available at the door.) Dec. 13.

Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr.  Orr Auditorium, Westminster College Celebrity Series, Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pa.; 724-946-7354. This charismatic duo will present an inspiring holiday show with Christmas favorites as well as a selection of their biggest hits, including “Never My Love,” “Up, Up & Away,” “Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In,” “Wedding Bell Blues,” “One Less Bell  to Answer,” “Stoned Soul Picnic” and other chart toppers. 7:30 p.m., Dec. 16.
