Mahoning County mails tax bills; payments due March 7

Mahoning County property owners will receive their first-half real estate tax bills in the mail in the coming days, according to Mahoning County Treasurer Daniel R. Yemma.

The deadline to pay without penalty is Friday, March 7. Property owners who did not receive statements by Feb. 19, 2014 should call the Treasurer’s Office at 330-740-2460 to confirm payment amounts or request copies of bills.

The Treasurer’s Office offers a number of ways to make tax payments: cash, check, credit card and electronic bank debit. The Treasurer’s office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday for taxpayers who prefer to pay in person. Payments may also be mailed to the Treasurer’s Office, 120 Market St., Youngstown, Ohio 44503. Approximately $115 million has been charged to the county tax duplicate. The money is dispersed to beneficiaries of each taxing district in the county. On average, two-thirds of real estate taxes are returned to local school districts.
