YSUscape will host a neighborhood workday in the Wick Park neighborhood from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 25.
Volunteers will meet in the parking lot across from Dorian Books, located at the corner of Madison Avenue and Elm Street in Youngstown.
The workday will consist of volunteers from Youngstown State University student organizations, neighborhood associations, and neighborhood stakeholders.
Volunteers will clean up public spaces and over 10 vacant properties in collaboration with the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation (YNDC) and Youngstown State University’s Center for Urban and Regional Studies. Many of the targeted properties have been vacant for several years.
A second workday is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 29.
YSUscape is a student association dedicated to encourage university and city-wide organizations to revitalize and beautify Youngstown through various projects.
Other events by YSUscape include a Youngstown cityscape mural on the former R&S building on Elm Street and the annual “Taste of Youngstown.”
