Actress, author, and storyteller Carol Weakland will present “A Date with the Brontë Sisters,” two one-woman shows based on “Jane Eyre” and “Wuthering Heights,” at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 22, 23, 29 and 30 and 2 p.m. on Jan. 24 and 31 at the Victorian Players Theatre, 702 Mahoning Ave., in Youngstown.
Weakland’s style of performance brings literary characters to life in an intimate, personal manner. She spent time at the Brontë parsonage and walked in the sisters’ footsteps, gaining insight into how the wild landscape suffused their characters.
“Weakland’s ability to condense a book into a lucid one-act play, to act the part of the heroine as well as assuming all the other characters, is nothing short of amazing,” noted the The Wheeling News.
Tickets are $12 adults, $9 students and senior citizens, and can be purchased at the door. The box office will open one hour before curtain time at each performance. Call 330-746-5455 for tickets and reservations. Seating is on a first-come first-served basis.
