March 24, 2016: Event to honor women in public service

The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley and its Fund for Women & Girls will honor women who have shaped America’s history and its future though their public service and leadership during a networking event from 5-7 p.m.  on  Thursday, March 24 at the Canfield Branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County.

The event, titled “Working to Form a More Perfect Union: Honoring Women in Public Service and Government,” will include light snacks, desserts, and refreshments, as well as a special performance featuring a portrayal of Harriet Taylor Upton, an American political activist and author from Ohio.

Visitors are encouraged to bring a photograph of an inspirational  woman for a public display.  In addition, the Community Foundation will recognize the local community contributions of the League of Women Voters.
